Tierra Madani – Zumba Instructor

Tierra teaches with Lizy on Thursdays and Sundays and when possible with Dave and Noriko!

Ever since I was a little girl, my favourite thing in the whole world was to dance. I mostly like to dance with friends and family, hence my love for Zumba Fitness!

My upbringing was a melting pot of Latin American, Hawaiian, and Middle-Eastern influences, especially when it came to music. I was raised most of my life on the island of Molokai in Hawaii, which is the birthplace of hula. I have always been inspired by the powerful movements of hula and the true meaning behind traditional dance styles. My family owned a Mexican restaurant where my grandpa was the lead Mariachi singer, and it didn’t take me long to fall in love with moving my feet to this fun style of music as well. I am also of middle-eastern decent which has exposed me just another beautiful style of dance. Our household was always dancing to any catchy and fun tunes, including Reggae, Salsa, Dancehall, and the top hits of the 80s/90s.

Zumba has been the perfect opportunity for me to continue dancing and to share my love for music and dance with others! The fitness component of Zumba is very important to me as well, as someone who has had challenges with weight my entire life.

I have been dancing Zumba since 2010, and I have been inspired by many amazing instructors. I am grateful to be mentored by the fabulous Zumba Lizy as I dive in to being a ZIN. I am excited to use my ‘melting pot’ of cultural dance experiences to create an amazing Zumba dance workout for my classes!
